The staff were extremely accommodating and went out of their way to help us! When we went for breakfast every morning, Sylvia was amazing. She welcomed us, she helped us with everything we needed and she made us laugh!!! We looked forward to see her at breakfast every morning! The rooms were really clean and comfortable and the staff cleaned our rooms thoroughly every day.

The room was fine and clean, location was not the best but fairly central. The issue however was that the fan in the bathroom would not turn off all night. There was no switch and h the fan was running for the entirety of my stay. Even with the. Bathroom door closed it was too loud to sleep.

The UK's 2nd largest city, Birmingham is one of its top cultural centres. Well-known for the M6 Spaghetti Junction interchange, it is a surprisingly green city with lots of open spaces.
Most city centre hotels in Birmingham are near New Street Station. To the east is the futuristic architecture of the new Bull Ring shopping centre, and just behind is Digbeth Coach Station. To the west is Victoria Square, home of the town hall and a German Christmas Market.
The Mailbox is one of the newest additions to the Birmingham shopping scene, and behind it is one of the canals converging on the Gas Street Basin. By one canal are the ICC (International Convention Centre) and the NIA (National Indoor Arena), both venues that host major events.
Just opposite is Brindleyplace, a canal-front complex of restaurants, bars and hotels near Broad Street – the main nightlife area. It is popular with students at nearby Birmingham University, whose clock tower is modelled on the one in Siena. Just south in Bournville is Cadbury World, and there are several hotels on Hagley Road to the north, which are available on Booking.com.
The city is also known for sports – Aston Villa and Birmingham City are the top football clubs, while Edgbaston Cricket Ground hosts international matches. Other Birmingham attractions include Hockley’s Jewellery Quarter and the NEC arena by Birmingham International Airport.

We went to Birmingham to see Michael McIntyre at The Utilita Arena .We stayed overnight but would have liked an extra night .We visited The Kitty Cafe which was lovely ,there is an £8 charge per adult and a lesser charge for children to spend one hour in the cafe ,but this money goes towards the cats ,who are rescue cats looking for a new home .We loved the canal area ,which was popular with loads of pubs and restaurants. We had lovely Tapas in the Bullring at lunchtime .We eat at Bistro Pierre by the canal in the evening which was enjoyable .

Fair walk from Hotel to Arena and a bit confusing but it was a nice day luckily and happy lots of other people around late at night and canals lit up so felt safer. Lots of beggers unfortunately that made it a not so pleasant walk.

People are so friendly and the busy centre is vibrant and varied. The canals make a lovely walking route through the centre making everything easily accessible. We ate at Jimmy Spice, an all you can eat buffet, but the food was of much higher quality than I have experienced at other similar restaurants. We both had a great time!

I visited the gay scene and China Town mainly. I was made to feel very welcome. As a stranger on my own I soon got invited to chat to the locals especially when out for a night out. The Chinese food was great and the gay scene was amazing 👏 🤩.

Birmingham is an easy to navigate city.
Birmingham is an easy to navigate city. Very clean and friendly.
I went for a weekend event but arrived a day early and visited the Birmingham museum and gallery with my 10 year old girls which they enjoyed the culture.
We also stayed an extra day to check out the think tank science museum which kept them fully engaged all day as it was so hands on. The cafe was great too with different budget options for meals.
I hadn't realised Birmingham had so many places to visit nearby. We'll definitely be back for longer with a planned agenda to explore more in the area.

The room was very clean and tidy, bathroom huge and also very clean. Shower was good.
Beds comfortable but the pillows looked like they were 100 years old. They were as flat as a pancake, definitely need updating.
The lifts were out of order which was a pain to carry all our luggage up to the 3rd floor, no offer of help from the staff unfortunately.
Also, this hotel is cashless. So be prepared to have to put everything on your card. You cant charge drinks or snacks to your room either, even though the snack vending machine/fridge in reception states ‘charge to room’ on the side of it.
Breakfast was good, lots of choice and quite tasty. I was surprised that breakfast was served until 12.00 on weekends and bank holidays, this was extremely helpful since we had been out to a rave in Birmingham until 3am so definitely could not have got up super early for breakfast!
I also liked that you can check out up to 12pm. Most places want to boot you out by 10am, so that was really handy not having to rush in them morning.
I would come back again if I were to go to another event in Birmingham.
I paid £270 for a twin room, without breakfast , on T20 cricket Finals weekend.
Not my first stay at the Penta ...... but why would I go elsewhere when staying in Birmingham ? The city centre is 15 min walk ...... the canal basin...5.
Great staff, good room, clean tidy ....... the hotel has a pool table, bar, terrace ...... all of which I didn't make use of .... but it's there !
I did get breakfast .... a great variety , plentiful , buffet style.
The breakfast was fine and plentiful, and no I didn’t walk around the area because I live in Birmingham and know the area better than you do or anyone else in the hotel. There is just something just not right about this hotel! There was a strong smell of marijuana on the first floor and the receptionist also noticed it and said it wasn’t good but nothing was fine about it.
Excellent hotel - can’t believe the quality and value as well as being right in the city centre! Spacious and spotless rooms. Great quality decor and lots of celebration of Birmingham heritage. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Easy access by both car and train. And to top it off breakfast was excellent. Will definitely be back!
Breakfast was lovely and staff were very helpful. The location was perfect, at least, for me. Bus links into the city centre were a few steps from the door. a few of the attractions in Birmingham were a bus ride or two away. Tesco was right across the hotel and access to other shops down Hagley road. Glad for this recommendation.
We stayed in the superior king suite and we were not disappointed. Amazing views over Birmingham, comfortable room and breakfast was excellent. We were visiting for a celebration/the Christmas markets - the hotel is located close to the city centre and walkable to the main facilities of the city. Lovely walk along the canal.
The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and the room exceeded our expectations — it was beautiful and very comfortable. The Grand is a lovely, stylish hotel in the middle of Birmingham. Perfect location for arts and cultural events as well as sight seeing. I would book again and highly recommend to others.
The staff were very friendly, breakfast was beautiful and the location suited our needs being perfectly situated near a major trainline for Birmingham city centre and NEC/Airport. Plenty of local free parking available without evening looking into how the hotel, pub carpark worked and priced to suit the accomodation.
The hotel was really well located near Star City and travel links to Birmingham city centre.
The bed was really comfortable so you'll be in for a good night sleep.
The buffet breakfast was a great way to start the day with the usual breakfast items and a range of hot and cold drinks.
Lovely comfortable hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Was perfect for course I attended in City centre. Perfect for metro link into city centre. Comfortable quiet room for goods nights sleep. Thank you, will book again if have another course in Birmingham
I was in Birmingham for a conference at the ICC. This hotel was excellently located for this and for the rest of the city centre, including the Christmas market. It was very comfortable and had all the facilities you would expect for a business hotel.
The staff were nice and friendly. No issues finding the place as it's very well situated in the Birmingham City Centre. For a budget hotel, it's not the worst, so long as you get it at a budget price and don't overpay like we did.
comfortable hotel 15 min in car away form Birmingham city center. there was a bus stop one block away which made it easy to go downtown. the hotel was clean, we payed 7 pounds for breakfast which was convenient for us.
Price! For a H.I.E. hotel in the heart of Birmingham city centre, the price offered was exceptional. However, had to pay big amount on parking too, which reduced the good effect of very good stay/breakfast price.
Very nice room, facilities and services. Breakfast was perfect as well. The location of the hotel is near the train station and bus stop so it was easy to get around.
Our favourite hotel when we make a social visit to Birmingham. Cosy and comfortable and close to all the amenities. Fab check in staff who are always on hand to help.
