Brilliant location; heritage building ( built 1806 by Robert Yelf whose family were already established as wine merchants in what’s now the Black Sheep bar adjacent!)

Room looked like not been cleaned for weeks , Found lots of black hairs everywhere and me and my partner both blonds . Was very dusty under bed & mattress was very soft and cheap & very uncomfortable , was very noisy at night as only single glazing & the worst is you lose a whole day as can't book in until after 3pm & have to book out on last day by 10 am .

Nice breakfast places
Nice Restraunt’s , good pubs
Ryde has some steep hills but the front is flat
The parking people are very sharp and take pictures rather than stick it on your car.

I went to Ryde, partly because there's a bus direct from East Cowes and the ferry - I don't take the car - and partly to see more of it. I'm not a beach lover but Ryde beach is good for those that are, and in season there's the pleasure pool etc for kids at the east end of the town. Buses go regularly to Newport, Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor and Bembridge, and the Island Line Railway also goes to Shanklin, And up and down the pier. There are the hovercraft to / from Southsea, the bus / tram museum and shops to potter in. Eating places - Castle Hotel is good - and wonderful ice cream

We were on the island to visit various places so the location did not really matter as we had the car, however having now travelled all around next time we would choose a location with more of a little town environment. There was very little in Ryde.

Ryde buildings and look is tired and needs some refreshing, the train service is, at best, erratic with many cancellations which is annoying if you need to get to Smallbrook Junction. They say you can use the train ticket for the bus but the bus does not go there! However the bus service is good and reliable. The Alamo steak house is very good, excellent steaks cooked as requested.

Great cafes and restaurants.
Great cafes and restaurants. I was really impressed by the homemade cakes on offer. It makes such a change from the massproduced rubbish.
Loved the walks potential. I really wished I had stayed longer.
The room was comfortable and there was plenty of space to put my belongings. It was also quiet as it was at the back of the hotel. The breakfast was great as there was plenty of choice and the dining room was spacious. The staff were friendly and willingly helped me with my suitcase as there were some stairs to go up and down even though there was a lift. I felt fine there even though I was on my own. I liked the location as it's situated right opposite Ryde Esplanade railway station. Taxis and buses are opposite too, plus the Hovercraft.
Our second stay with Great Hosts . Beautifully decorated and clean and fresh. We were lucky to have lovely weather too, and the sea view from the balcony was a bonus . Everything we needed and a delicious fresh cake baked for our arrival and lots of extras we weren't expecting.
The bed was so comfy. The location again was great. All local amenities and close to shops bars and restaurants. We enjoyed a lovely meal at the castle hotel. Would highly recommend. And will definitely be returning ourselves!
clean rooms
the only thing let us down was booking.com not passing the correct information onto the hotel I changed my booking soon after I book hotel to a Superior Double Room which wasn’t passed onto Ryde Castle but amount to pay had been charged.
I paid for a superior room which I didn’t get.
Hotel have refunded me some money but I had to complain to hotel because the room I got wasn’t what I paid for.
I have used booking.com for long time this was booking .com’s fault not the hotel
The hotel was easy to find with the nearby parish church as an easy landmark visible across Ryde. The room and all facilities were comfortable and clean, everything you need for a short stay.
The staff were excellent, allowed us to keep some bags etc. in reception for us to collect later in the day after checking out that morning.
Very beautiful apartment with all facilities. It is actually bigger than looks in the picture. Very good location, from the Ryde ferry it is 5 min walk and all the bus stations to go anywhere in the isle of Wight are within 10min walk.
There is Co-Op and Iceland shop within 5min walk so you can have all the stuff from there.
There wasn't a breakfast as such but food could be bought at times from the bar. There was a kitchen & dining area within the building if you wished to take in your own food to heat & prepare it, with a cupboard allocated to each room containing your own utensils, along with a fridge to store any fodstuffs.
We came on a last-minute family holiday to the Isle of Wight, and had a wonderful time. the apartment is amazingly located, right in the centre of Ryde on a lovely street. the apartment was beautifully clean,
the host could not have been more helpful and the kids loved the bunk beds.
Thank you!
The hotel has great spa facilities, we especially like the bubble lounge in the spa area!
Staff were nice and welcoming.
Good size rooms and the beds were very comfy!
Good location, 5 minutes from ferry and 10 mins from ryde. There’s a bus station right by the hotel for 15 min travel to ryde.
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and tea/coffee and kettle were provided. TV in the room worked fine. The hotel had a comfortable lounge area with a TV and bar downstairs. The breakfast room was clean and bright. Breakfast was adequate, and the staff helpful.
This is a functional hotel in a good location on the main shopping street in Ryde. We managed to park the car in the hotel car park every night. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The 2 single rooms we booked were bigger than expected.
Great location, lovely sea view. Because we were a large family group, the communal area was perfect. Very clean hotel. Would recommend the deluxe room as it was very reasonable and so much bigger and had kettle, tea & coffee in the room.
This hotel is basic but suited what I needed as a base to visit the island. It’s no frills but is sensibly priced and was clean. Really close to Ryde city centre and the train station all within walking distance
All went very well. The dining room was very nice and the breakfasts very good. The bedroom was in a quiet spot and comfortable. The hotel for me was in a perfectly centrally located.
The dining room and food were good and the service was very good. The room was clean and tidy and the bed was clean and comfortable. Hotel location excellent.
