A very good hotel and room for the budget, as always in my experience with Wetherspoon hotels. Huge room with a good range of facilities and excellent bathroom. Very clean and quiet despite the central location (opposite Central railway station and 1 minute from bus station - useful, as I was travelling a lot by public transport). Convenient checkout procedure.

The Pier walk was great and visit to the lifeboat at the end...

The Pier walk was great and visit to the lifeboat at the end. We also loved 'Beaches' Restaurant and the 'Oyster Kitchen' We loved walking along the coast both ways. Leigh on Sea had some super little independent boutiques; "Ruby's" for one and an amazing boutique called "A Touch Too Wild" where the owner could give Gok Wan a run for his money! Southend is great for walking or there is an open topped bus - we just walked until we found somewhere lovely to stop for a rest; we had "Elevenses at The Oyster Creek Kitchen, then 'put the steps in' browsed the boutiques in Leigh on Sea and then enjoyed great food at an Italian Bistro which served superb food! Our Guest House had its own parking and was convenietly situated beteeen Leigh on Sea and Southend itself. We stated for three nights and feel completely refreshed!

I went just at the start of the Easter break, and it was nice and quiet, I imagine it being a popular summer resort. Good facilities with plenty of eateries. Travelling around Southend was okay, gets busy during rush-hour. Great long walks along the esplanade and the pier. A lot of the shops were closed during close-season.

I lived in Southend for many years, this was a visit to see family and attend a family gathering. The town (I will never call it a city) is a shadow of its former self. I wouldn't go to Southend unless I had a specific reason, it just isn't as welcoming as it used to be and the high street is dead. In the summer, short break with young children who want no more than the beach and this place would be ok. There are some decent restaurants but stay out of the town centre for those.

Going around visiting places. Eating out. Great taxi service. Hotel was not so good. Not disabled friendly. Fell in bathroom not built for anyone who is disabled.. Hurt myself quite bad. Screaming in agony. Apart from that. Will not be staying in this hotel again

The hotel is conveniently situated across the road from Southend Central Railway Station and close to shops, restaurants, the sea front and the pier. Although it’s over a busy Wetherspoons pub, our room was quiet and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a very large twin room with a good-size bathroom. The furnishing was basic but the beds were comfortable. It was convenient to be able to have meals and drinks in the Pub downstairs.

The location is great, it's not on the seafront but just one road inwards. You can see the sea as soon as you step out of the hotel. It's away from the crowded touristy areas which was a plus. There are really nice gardens with sea view just few mins walk. The family that runs this is super nice and provided great service!! The room was spacious enough to give some extra space to relax on the sofa!!

The hotel building was beautiful with lots of original features remaining in the shared areas. The staff were warm, welcoming and very helpful. The room was very comfortable and by surprise we were upgraded to a sea facing room so had an excellent view of the stunning Southend pier. The Manager kindly gave us details of what to visit locally which enhanced our overall stay.

In a nice area of Southend called Prittlewell close to shops and a short journey either by car or public transport to Southend Victoria and the seafront isn't too far situated from the high st. The apartment is well presented and the security is very good for a short stay and met all my needs.

The location is great, lovely views, quite (for Southend area at least). Close to good restaurants. This hotel could be the best in Southend with some investment. Very under capacity especially as it’s nearly summer.

For the price this hotel exceeded my expectations, the pictures don’t do this place justice. My stay at the Haven House Hotel gave me the full Southend on sea experience you can find beauty in the grittiness.
