Situated in Mexico City, less than 1 km from Zocalo Square, Hotel Flamencos features accommodation with a fitness centre, free private parking, a shared lounge and a restaurant. The location is really good, in the centre of México city, with easy access to bus and metro and walking distance to many points of interest in the city. The room was clean and beds comfortable but my favourite part was the bathroom, with toilet, shower and sink all separate, making it easier for two people to get ready. The room is perfectly insulated so you don't get any light or noise from outside. Breakfast was delicious, with fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal and a selection of hot food which changed every day. The staff was really nice and welcoming.

the historic centre & the zocalo, are a big part of the culture of Mexico, you should be there in Mexico visit. The pyramids of TEOTIHUACAN too. ( 45 minutes of Mexico DF) Museo Antropologico & Lunario, two unforgettable places to visit. WTC, is a big center of business. Coyoacán & San Angel, two neighborhoods to should visit in your trip. culture, historic places, houses, squares, monuments, books, people. The markets call tianguis, everyone on saturdays & sundays in 10 different places in the city, you must know, as experience.
One of the obvious problems with depending upon othe people's reviews is that the information is completely subjective. I was completely taken back by how comfortable I felt in the city. I was expecting to be much more guarded and tense due to the reviews decribing the city as dangerous. Areas described as being sketchy seemed perfectly fine to me. Mexico DF is a world class city with lots of activities, many green spaces and an outstanding transportation system. For the most part, it is reasonably clean and well maitained. The metro does get crowded even during non rush hour times but is tolerable unless you are claustrophobic. Even the regular buses are fine. The Metrobus for access to the airport is excellent. Calle Uruguay is a good place to find restaurants with a good value. I did not have a problem with the air pollution but I traved during the rainy season and it did rain in the afternoon every day or so and that probably helped with the pollution. Overall, I would rate Mexico City with the greats like New York, London and San Francisco.
In CDMX (like they call it today, instead of 'Mexico City' or 'Ciudad de Mexico' or 'Mexico DF'), one takes his/her precautions as in any big city in the world. Of course there are pickpockets, of course they try to steal your phone or jewellery, but that counts for Barcelona or New York also. Use common sense and don't flash anything of value. Be discrete and you'll enjoy your stay in CDMX. Eating out can cost you anything from a few pesos (on the street-safest places are where people are lined up!), to very expensive, exclusive restaurants, where a meal can cost you your whole piggy-bank! The nicest looking places aren't always the best, the shabbiest places not always the worst! It's safe to say that one can have a decent meal for as little as 50pesos! Mexico City is a crowded place; either walking, Metro, Bus or Taxi, it all takes time. To get around by Metro, please study the Metro-map in advance. Check the END DESTINATION of the line and you know which way you're heading. All stations have a NAME and an ICON; specially designed for people who cannot read, know where to go. Staying in CDMX for some days or weeks, or even some months, you're always short of time to visit everything you want/like! So, make a plan before starting out. Enjoy your staying in Mexico City, 'el Capital', 'DF' or, what's it called today CDMX!
