Haika Home Lodge has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Dar es Salaam. With free WiFi, this 3-star hotel offers room service. Each room comes with a patio. Haika Home Lodge is surprisingly quiet, gated for security, clean and comfortable. Our room was on the small side (there are larger ones) but the aircon worked very well and so did the shower in the en-suite wet room. There was a clean, hole-free mosquito net over the bed. It is not far from public transport and, with a guide, we took a tuk tuk from nearby into the centre of Dar es Salaam. The owner is a charming lady, very helpful and flexible; she arranged for us to be met at the airport, and offered delicious evening meals which did have to be pre-ordered but which were excellent value and featured local cuisine. My husband and I spent nights here before and after a short safari to the Nyerere game reserve. When we travel we choose where possible owner managed small hotels like Haika Home Lodge because they usually have more character and are often much better value than the international chains.

We liked everything: The old and tasteful architecture, the garden, the friendly staff, nice rooms, location. Breakfast was perfect, lots of choice and lots of fresh products. Transportation from and to the airport worked well. The staff helped us to get Bolts in town too. Several nice restaurants in the vicinity, perfect location away from the quite ugly down-town Dar. We also walked to the Tingatinga co-operative and ran in the neighbourhood. Very good value for money! We will recommend to everybody and would certainly stay again.
