The Glendalough Hotel, hotel in Laragh

In the heart of the Wicklow Mountains National Park, the Glendalough Hotel has views of the ruined Glendalough Cathedral. The hotel offers en suite rooms, a restaurant and pub.

Had to move rooms twice, the first 2 were terrible..3rd room very nice, comfortable, fresh and lovely views. The food was really not good at all very disappointing. Some of the staff made great efforts to make you feel welcome and some others were just rude and difficult. Such a amazing location, this could be a gem of a hotel, but management needs to review everything and take a new approach. However, it's location will keep it customers coming but not sure about returning, which is a great pity.

I liked everything very great place to rest perfectly clean. There was nothing missing. I will definitely come back again. Thank you very much. Regards David J

Wicklow Way Lodge, hotel in Laragh

Wicklow Way Lodge features garden views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in the heart of Wicklow mountains.

This is a very large property encompassing Bed & Breakfast, accounting side and fields around where they grow Christmas trees. In The middle of nowhere but on the WICKLOW way. In fact only one hour from Dublin and very Close to Glendalough. The room was fairly spacious with a good bathroom and an Italian shower so accessible for people with reduced mobility! Very clean. Great bed! Very very quiet! The Surrounding is very nice and there are possibilities to walk. There is also a lot of things to see around and the owner made a good job to indicate it all on the map! Breakfasts are copious and cooked to order. Irish breakfast, porridges, toasts and a selection of of cereals, juice, yoghurt and fruit. Even non dairy milk!

We got the wrong room, single instead of a twin accommodation but they sort it out for the first night and then the next day they gave us a twin room for the rest of the stay. Great and very friendly staff. The administration does a great job in training them and been visible to all. The only draw back was that we did not get our room clean during our stay, the garbage was full, we only got towels changed.

This is a perfect location for walkers & nature lovers. The views are spectacular & if you're lucky with the weather, which we were, though it was February, there are some lovely walks in the area, both short & long-distance. Very popular with tour groups & families, especially at weekends ... lots of buggies, bicycles & dogs ... something for everyone! Lovely outdoor seating areas for coffee & snacks & tasty food in restaurant. Don't forget your camera for some memorable & scenic shots during your walks. Wear comfortable footwear to really enjoy & take advantage of the lovely walks, especially around the lake , up towards the waterfall ... so much to see & enjoy ... for adults, kids, & doggies too! Will definitely return!

We have visited Laragh on three different trips to Ireland, and we are always eager to return. It is a scenically beautiful area. We love walking the trails at Glendalough amid the ancient monastic ruins, and the drive through the Wicklow Mountains is stunning. Over the years, we also have enjoyed several day trips to nearby Russborough House with its art, gardens, interesting history, and excellent restaurant. The Wicklow Heather restaurant is world class, and the cafe in the center of Laragh has excellent homemade soups and food. Laragh is a great part of any trip to Ireland.

Laragh is just over a kilometre away from the honey pot of Glendalough which, when we were there at the weekend, was heaving with visitors. Laragh is a good place to stay because you're away from the crowds and I suspect that the dining options are better than in Glendalough. There are lots of walks into the hills from Glendalough and it is indeed a beautiful place. The long distance Wicklow Trail passes within a kilometre of Laragh. Good public transport connections either direct from Dublin by coach or by train from Wicklow and there is a bus service to connect with the trains at Wicklow.

This is a fantastic property in a perfect location- right on the edge of the Wicklow Mountains National Park. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the continental breakfast was convenient, tasty, and plentiful. Our host Sharon was super helpful, and she really went "above and beyond" when she mailed (at her expense!) my wife's jewelry bag to our home in the U.S. after it was left behind accidentally. Overall, this property is an outstanding value and would give it my highest recommendation!

This was a wonderful place to stay. The location so beautiful, the house was stunning, period furniture, beautiful decor, great sense of calm and peacefulness throughout it. The manager ( regretfully didn't ask her name) was great, very pleasant, good engagement with guests, so helpful and very friendly, good at her job. The Wicklow Heather restaurant adjacent to the property was perfect for dining both evening and morning. Would highly recommend Heather House and would return in a heartbeat.

We stayed in Heather House a short trip from Trooperstown Lodge. Accommodation was beautiful with a terrific view, super clean and modern. Lovely and warm for the winter time, towels and hairdryer provided and very comfy bed with fluffy pillows. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was had in the restaurant next door which is a quaint, old fashioned restaurant. Lovely antique decorations and delicious food. Staff in both accommodation and restaurant were very friendly and helpful.

The location is excellent for hikers and the little cabins are comfortable and make a unique experience to sleep in. As the beds were very comfortable we slept really well and, as there is basically only nature around you, it is very quite. The shared bathrooms have individual cabins for taking a shower, and were very clean. There is a well-staffed kitchen if you want to cook your own dinner, or you can take a 7 minute walk down to the village to eat at a restaurant.

Mary is an excellent host, very pleasant. The room was nice and comfortable. The b&b is walking distance to glendalough and The Wicklow Heather restaurant. We got drenched during our walk and the small hairdryer was actually a life saver! Small things like that make a massive difference. It was a wonderful experience and I would gladly recommend it to anyone looking to explore glendalough area.

The house, area, and host were all exceptional. It provided the perfect home base for our family (3 generations) to explore various parts of Ireland as well as a comfortable place to kick back and spend togetherness time. Lisa went above and beyond in making us feel comfortable and welcome. I would go again in a heartbeat and would recommend to anyone.

It’s a very small town, so everything is pretty compact, and this hotel was in the middle of it. The room is nearly renovated, so it looks a lot nicer than the pictures, with white duvet covers and purple seating by the windows and purple and grey accent bedding. There are large seating areas outside the room and the room was a decent size.
