Plenty of activity, trails, scenic views, restaurants, music at certain times and places. A good base for The Ring Of Kerry. Romantic get aways. By night it’s romantically beautiful by day it’s romantically fascinating

Fabulous quiet cottage with original features and a view to die for. The sunsets were incredible. Unfortunately the name has been changed and no one in the area knows the new name so it took ages to find it. The new owners need to put a name on the gate.

A small fishing village with beautiful scenery nearby.
A small fishing village with beautiful scenery nearby. Parking could be an issue in hi-season, There are scenic boat trips around the islands and can be booked at the hotel. Off-season is quieter but no live music.

We gathered from our various accommodation to the Cafe on the pier and had an excellent breakfast. Great staff and value
I was only staying for one night and would have liked to have stayed for longer as the place had a lovely "feel"

Easy access to tourist options.
Easy access to tourist options. Cliffs of Kerry are on private property on the outskirts of Portmagee and entry cost was 5 Euros per person - good views and a bit of a climb from the car park.
The Skellings chocolate shop was great. You can try many samples of different types of chocolate before buying.
Many people travel to Portmagee for the 45 minute boat trip (one way) and landing on Skellig Michael. Landing is weather dependant - and not guaranteed. Puffins are adorable and plentiful. Guide at top of the steep 600+ steps climb up to the beehive huts was informative. Toilet facilities only at the arrival point to the island.
Brayhead Tower is over the bridge on Valentia Island with fabulous views out to sea towards the Skelligs and cliffs of Kerry. Car park is paid by a 2 Euro coin only. It is a LONG walk to the tower.
Tetrapod trackway is free, difficult to see the tracks but fabulous views. The slate works are close to the Tetrapod trackway but visitor information is limited.
We ate both nights outside at "The Fishermans Bar & restaurant" in Portmagee. Service is good and friendly. They serve fresh fish caught that day and it was delicious.
The smalll supermarket is not well stocked with pre-filled rolls/sandwiches and appears to have limited supplies - suggest you shop at Cahersiveen or Sneem if you are self catering.

Portmagee is a charming village, great for seafood in a comfortable setting. Good location to visit nearby areas such as Valentia and Knightstown. Brilliant whiskey tasting experience available in Portmagee Whiskey.
You can't get closer than this place to where you need to be for the Michael Skellig Experience. Conveniently located and spacious. This place was a lot of room for my daughter and me. It was a luxury to be able to wash our clothes in the washer and dryer. The shower was great. Plenty of towels. The beds were comfortable. It was great to relax in this home in Portmagee. I highly recommend staying in this place.
Everything. Great location and our bedroom had a wonderful sea view. Kettle, toaster and cereals, milk and yogurt provided for free. Waking distance to harbour and village centre with two fabulous pubs with stand out food. Free accessible parking. Very comfortable and clean with good space. We loved Portmagee and would definitely recommend Atlantic Sunset as the perfect place to stay.
Pete and Maureen have a wonderful place just outside of Portmagee! It is quiet, clean, and oh what an exceptional setting, right smack on the bay facing Valentia Island. Our twin room, though on the smaller side, was very comfortable.and what a gourmet breakfast they offer complete with otters, hares, and water birds in view. We loved this place and and it’s owners and so will you!
We liked everything about the property—location, facilities, parking, comfort, etc. But the best part of our stay was meeting Marie! She is very kind, friendly and warm. She even made sure we had snacks and breakfast items available in the room. We highly recommend staying at Skellig View Bluebell Rose & Kerry Cliffs and hope to return again ourselves. Delightful stay!
We chose the location rather randomly but it turned out to be very convenient to the things we wanted to see and do. It's about 2 km from Portmagee, and the Cliffs of Kerry attraction is walking distance. It was very quiet. It was nice that a bit of breakfast is provided: we got - for 2 of us - 4 pieces of bread, 2 eggs, some butter and jam, as well as tea and biscuits.
We loved the location across from the marina in Portmagee. It was great to have an easy-to-use washer and dryer. Also, we had a chance to meet with Gar and he provided good tips about what to do in the area when our trip to Skellig Michael was cancelled because of large swells.
Very clean. Just the right size for a short stay. Very accessible, in the town of Portmagee just adjacent to the bridge to go on to Valentia island. Everything we needed (even though we didn’t cook). Good heaters to heat the rooms as the weather was still very cold.
Beautiful area-watched a glorious sunrise with sheep 🐑 bleating in the background! Exactly what I wanted to see. Located very close to Cliffs of Kerry and Portmagee-the launch point for our visit to Skellig Michael. It was a highlight of our 10 day visit.
Amazing view of valentia island from our room! Room was also very comfortable, tea/coffee and biscuits provided were great and the host is super friendly! Portmagee is a nice little town as well, so I would definitely recommend staying here.
Andy was very accommodating to us, waiting for us to arrive even though we arrived around 9-10pm. We chose this accommodation because it’s near to Portmagee Pier, for our adventure to Skellig Michael. I hope we stayed there longer.
Marie was a great host and very helpful. Great location near to the Kerry Cliffs. Beautiful views. Excellent facilities provided in the apartment. The stove kept things nice and warm, and the cooking facilities were excellent.
Breakfast, included, was tasty. The location was right across the street from the docks where we caught the boat to Skellig Michael. And we bought our boat tickets from The Moorings. Very easy and convenient.
Great location if you are going on the Skellig Micheal Tour. Kerry Cliffs are just 5 mins to drive. Valetia Island across the bridge. Nearby parking. The room was very cosy and comfortable. Easy check-in.
Breakfast is excellent. It serves hot food in a very nice restaurant. The room is antic and clean. The dinner is very nice, and the staff is very friendly and approachable. The hotel with a pleasant view
A homely, comfortable apartment in a good location to access area around Portmagee such as Valentia Island and Skelling Island cruises. Paula was a lovely and knowledgeable host.
Very clean comfortable room. Great location right over the road from the marina.
Close to pubs and cafes.
Great halfway point around the Ring Of Kerry/Skellig Ring.
