Great eating out, some a little overpriced however.
Great eating out, some a little overpriced however. Monday is a very quiet night for eating out!
For a good unpretentious meal try Cobb and Co. The Vine has a vast range of goodies. The Indian restaurants are all good.

A very nice town.
A very nice town. Small enough to be charming, large enough to have many choices for nearby activities and dining. We stayed here as a base for seeing things in Rotorua as well which was only a hour drive away, though some of the best thermal parts near Rotorua are only 40 minutes away.

1-2 days maximum is more than enough. Food their is great and beautiful coffee, but do keep in mind everything is expensive as it is a tourist spot. Otherwise great location to visit. I visited Huka falls and Wairakei terrace hot pools which was an amazing experience.

Was not in Taupo long but what I saw looked good.
Was not in Taupo long but what I saw looked good. Smaller town with a nice atmosphere. Plenty of places to eat, things to see and do. Getting around Taupo in peak hours is a challenge so time your travel.

We just wanted the best affordable accommodation as we were...
We just wanted the best affordable accommodation as we were passing through to spend the day with family then returned again the next night. Loved having a comfortable and spacious hotel type room to relax in after a long drive.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They recommended activities in Taupo, good restaurants and breakfast places that were all amazing!
They helped us with our skydiving reservation and went out of their way to make sure we could get our jump.
Location is a few minutes walk away from the lakefront and the harbour can be reached in a 20~30 minutes very enjoyable walk.
The room was extremely clean and well furnished. Beds included a heated mattress which was the cherry on top for our nights!
The photos gave an impression it was self-contained room and wasnt but I did book in a hurry and last minute, have stayed in exactly same style properties who actually provided coffee making facilities, utensils and a fridge in the room which again I'm sure was advertised as having when selecting property, will note another 2 properties stayed at similar to here were approx. $40NZD cheaper per night.
We loved everything about our time at Acacia Cliffs. The home is lovely with an incredible view of Lake Taupo. Neil was a wonderful host, and we enjoyed spending time in the morning chatting with him. Unfortunately, Neil’s wife Stephanie was out of town visiting family, so we didn’t get the chance to meet her. We hope to return at some point in the future!
This is one of the best motels we have stayed in. It was modern, well maintained with quality fittings. The bed was excellent. The furniture in the spacious lounge was comfortable and the unit was air - conditioned. Right on the lake front in Taupo the unit we had was set back from the road so was quiet. We would definitely stay here again.
Great view of the lake, warm, quiet room, and lots of recommendations on local eateries and bars etc. Great to be able to bring Pixie along as well. Pixie is our little white maltese dog. She was very respectful and comfortable as well. Will be back again and have recommended your hotel to family and friends
Very nice and Super clean hotel , The Manager was very friendly and helped us a lot , Parking was very convenient, location was perfect - restaurants and shops very near and also the Taupo lake was near -me and my family enjoyed Taupo and staying in Ashbrook motel - Should've stayed more ..
Friendly & helpful owner.
Great location near lake & lake bike trails
Appreciated getting an upgrade to a bigger & quieter room.
Comfy king-size bed.
The Taupo Parkrun start is very close to Cascades Lakefront Motel.
Liked the recycling & rubbish disposable options.
We’re very happy to stay in this motel. Bed comfortable, nice & clean. Good location, few minutes walk to Taupo lake. Shops & restaurants around, Thai restaurant next door. Friendly staff, great smiles & show us around. We’re love this motel & will come back again
My family holiday in Taupo every year, we have been staying at Le Chalet Suisse for the past 10 years. It has everything we need, pool, spa, spa bath, beautiful view of the lake, great staff, and amazing location, easy walking distance to town and resturants.
The room was simply beautiful. It was very private and the panoramic view of Lake Taupo was absolutely stunning. The hosts were extremely helpful and friendly. My only regret was that we didn’t get to spend more time there.
The property was what they have advertised, a 3 star hotel, but with excellent location exactly in front of the lake and all the restaurants outside the door.
The owner is very responsive, helpful and a real gentleman.
Great location- 2mins or less of walk into town & motel is in front of the lake. Clean room & modern bathrooms! Christine & Staff are amazing. Second time back and will definitely be returning if in Taupo in the future!
This was a great room, with spa and lake view. Breakfast on the balcony was a perfect way to start the day, and a cocktail watching the sun set a perfect way to end it. Will definitely stay there again if in Taupo
Co close to the lake! and the views from the studio were spectacular! Small hotel, but cozy and within walking distance to all the good restaurants and lake activities.
