Lady Bowen Bed and Breakfast is a 155 year old hotel and is listed as a Category 2 building on the New Zealand Heritage List.

My daughter met me in Auckland from California and I came from Texas. Barbara and Stu were so sweet, kind and friendly. The breakfast room has a beautiful rectangle table I wanted to take home with me. The breakfast was amazing! Crispy meaty bacon, tasty sausage and the eggs were perfectly round. Thames is a quiet town with quite a few coffee shops and a good variety of stores to browse. The supermarket (Pack & Save) was close to where we were staying. There are several locations close to Thames that are worth a visit The Gold mine just north of town Cathedral beach and the hot water beach are worth the time to check out. A scenic drive up to Coramandel town is interesting. Just be careful on the narrow sea side road. Enjoy

Didnt know which cafe to choose, but this one had a lot of people in it, so we chose this one.Hot chocolate cafe. The big breakfast and the pancakes were delicious. Quaint, busy little township, just caught the tail end of the market. We stumbled on another cafe further up, which sold this devine louise cake & caramel wheaty slice. Yummy. I thoroughly enjoyed the Nakontong Thai restaurant for dinner too.

Shared bathroom and toilet wasn't good.

Shared bathroom and toilet wasn't good. Luckily for me there was only one other guest a female but that was awkward as we both wanted to shower at the same time. Lucky for both of us there were not 3 couples staying at the same time.

The Coastal walkway is a good walk. Old town worth a visit.

The Coastal walkway is a good walk. Old town worth a visit. Lots of good places to eat in town and some good shops and cafes. Lots of walks up the Kauaeranga river Valley in the Cormandel Forest Park. Good base for surrounding areas, we did full circuit of Carmandel from here. Also enjoyed Gold mines tour at Waihi and walks on the Whatawheta river gorge

We just spent one night at the motel to escape cyclone Gabrielle so we didn’t get to enjoy the pool or other facilities. But we appreciated the super friendly welcome by the staff and the clean and comfortable room. The location is great to explore Thames and the area. The kitchenette has everything needed to prepare breakfast or small meals. Beds were comfortable and felt fairly new.

Great little motel just outside of Thames. If you're the type you could walk or bike to town easily in good weather. It's just a fews minutes drive in the wet. Our room was quite spacious and everything was nice and clean, tidy and well laid out. Its been refreshed in the not too distant past by the look of things. Very nice. Good TV and plenty of Sky channels very handy too.

Older style motel that has been beautifully redecorated. Tranquil location with established gardens beside a small stream. Although it seemed to be away from the town centre, there is a walkway providing very fast access to the main street. The room had everything we needed, and more, and was excellent value for money. Will definitely stay here again when in Thames.
