Toyako Guest House Ponkotan is situated in Lake Toya, in the Toyako Onsen district. With free WiFi, this 1-star hostel offers a shared kitchen and a shared lounge. The host was super nice and helped me plan everything slowly with no rush.

Otaornai Backpacker's Hostel Morinoki is for free and independent travelers in Hokkaido Otaru. No good for small group or family. Such a cozy place. It is such a pity that I did not join breakfast and missed the chance to have a conversation with local and international people.

A 10-minute walk from JR Kutchan Train Station, Niseko Backpackers Hostel Tabi-Tsumugi offers simple accommodation with extra-long beds. We had an amazing stay here. Riyo is a great host and went out of his way for us multiple times. Pick ups from the train station and morning shuttles to Mt Hirafu made things so easy. The dorm rooms are the most spacious I have had and they are super private and warm. The common areas are clean and inviting. You feel at home the moment you walk in. The kitchen has everything you need and the effort Riyo puts in for cleanliness doesn't go unnoticed. Highly recommend this place.
